The title alone is intriguing and then throw in the creative name of the author and I was interested.  Then I cracked open the cover jacket and as I was scanning the book blurb, I spied a familiar name...North Carolina...and then the word "mountains".  Being that I grew up in a small town in the Blue Ridge mountains of North Carolina, I knew this was a book that I would have to try.


This is a book that will trouble and deeply sadden many a reader with its unfortunate truths to a side of America that many of us would rather forget.  The extremists...the followers...the almighty...the victims.  Wiley Cash took his knowledge of a certain religious sect and wove a powerful story that I will ponder for a long time.
